When your child is struggling in math, you have two choices:
1) Hire a tutor to work with your child.
2) Learn the skills you need to work with your child.
If you want to take the reins of your child's math education, you have come to the right place. Just think. Math homework could become a fun experience that you and your son or daughter share together!
Parent coaching is all about "teaching the teacher." My goal is to give you the math and tutoring skills you need to work with all of your children, so that they won't need an outside tutor. We can work together in person, in the Burnsville, NC area, or remotely, using the phone or Skype and an online whiteboard.
I offer three levels and modes of math coaching for parents: Math Buddy, Math Team Coach, and Math Mentor. I have provided a summary of each of these levels of support below. All programs include a subscription to my blog, Math U Can: A Math Blog for Parents, and a signed copy of my book, Math Can Be Fun: A Parent's Guide to Engaging Kids in Math.
If you just need short-term support, help with specific math issues, and/or a booster in working with your child, you need a Math Buddy. As your Math Buddy, I will provide one-on-one live tutoring and/or coaching in sessions as short as 30 minutes, or as long as 1 hour. You'll get a 10% discount if you pay for multiple sessions in advance.
Math Team Coach
If you and your friends with kids have been struggling in helping your children with math, you need a Math Team Coach. As the Math Coach for your team of up to 4 parents, I offer 1-hour live sessions. You'll get a 10% discount if you pay for multiple sessions in advance.
Please contact me and let me know the number of parents who will be joining our little group, as well as a short description of each your challenges. I'll get back with you to schedule a free consultation with your group or with a representative for your group, whichever you prefer.
Give a woman a fish and you feed her for a day; teach a woman to fish and you feed her for a lifetime.
Sometimes all you need is a few quick sessions and you're on your way ... you just need a fish. But if you have been struggling for a while to help your child with math, and need either extensive math help yourself or ongoing one-on-one support for working with your child, you need a Math Mentor ... someone to teach you how to fish. As your Math Mentor, I'll provide a one-on-one coaching session every week, along with email support. You can sign up for as little as one month, but you'll get a 10% discount if you pay for multiple months in advance. My goal as your Math Mentor is to hand you the fishing rod and the bait, and teach you how to use them. Then you can teach your child to fish ... I mean, do math ... too.
